Adjustable Concert Pitch

Set A4 from 432 to 446 Hz when an ensemble or recording uses a reference other than A440.

How to Tune Your Guitar Online

  1. Select Start Tuning, choose Guitar, and pick the tuning preset you need.
  2. Allow microphone access when your browser asks. Pluck one string at a time in a reasonably quiet room.
  3. If the meter says flat, tighten the string gradually. If it says sharp, loosen it.
  4. Stop when the indicator centers, then repeat for the remaining strings.
  5. Make one final pass: changing one string's tension can slightly affect the others.

For the cleanest reading, pluck near the middle of the string, mute the other strings, and wait for the attack to settle before adjusting the peg.

Why a Guitar Can Sound Out of Tune After the Meter Centers

A tuner measures pitch, but setup and technique still matter. Pressing too hard can pull a fretted note sharp. Old strings may intonate unevenly, and a guitar that is in tune on open strings can still need bridge or neck adjustment if notes higher up the fretboard drift.

Start with fresh, stretched strings; approach the target pitch from below; and compare open strings with notes around the twelfth fret. Persistent differences are usually a setup or intonation issue rather than a tuner issue.

Online Tuner FAQ

Is the PluckTune online tuner free?
Yes. It is free and does not require an account.
Does it need microphone permission?
Yes. The live tuner needs access to your microphone to detect the note you play. Pitch analysis runs in the browser.
Can I tune without automatic note detection?
Yes. Select a specific string to lock the target, which is useful when background sound makes automatic matching difficult.
What does a cent mean?
A cent is one hundredth of a semitone. A reading near zero means the played pitch is centered on the target note.
