Standard Guitar Fretboard Notes
Standard tuning from the sixth string to the first is E–A–D–G–B–E. Notes repeat after 12 frets, so fret 12 has the same note names as the open strings, one octave higher.

Three Ways to Learn the Guitar Fretboard
- Find one note everywhere. Pick C, G, or another note and locate it on all six strings. Check by tapping each position in Shape Explorer.
- Learn from landmarks. Memorize the natural notes on the sixth and fifth strings first; many barre chord and scale roots are anchored there.
- Build small patterns. Map three to five notes from a chord or scale in one neck area, focus the view, then play the pattern in several keys.

- How many frets are included?
- The explorer includes the open strings and frets 1 through 21.
- Is microphone access required?
